Date Rape Once Again in the Celebrity News: Mira Sorvino Calls for Justice
Posted by DrinkSafe on 17th May 2019
Once again, we see a beloved celebrity becoming victim to date rape. Recently, Mira Sorvino -- already part of the #MeToo movement with Harvey Weinstein -- shared that she is a victim of date rape. She did not reveal the perpetrator's name at the time. Sorvino's primary reason for revealing this very personal tragedy was to help bring justice and to protect other women who might find themselves in this situation.
According to The Guardian, Sorvino stated, “I am doing it here to try and help, because there are all these survivors out there right now who need justice, who need to feel that they can take the time they need to sort through the trauma, to sort through the shame."
If you even suspect that you've been given a drink spiked with any drugs, but especially date rape drugs like GHB and Ketamine, don't waste anytime. Immediately tell a friend and have them call 911. Immediately find medical help. These drugs can leave the system within a few hours, so getting a rape kit administered quickly may be vital to convicting the perpetrator.
Do what you can to keep yourself save. Never leave drinks unattended, and always have your date rape drug test kits with you.
