Date Rape is not a 'Date'

Date Rape is not a 'Date'

These days, we all know the term, 'Date Rape.' It's too often in the news or affecting the lives of our friends and loved ones. At Drink Safe, we make products to help potential victims protect themselves from drugs used by rapists to commit 'Date Rape', namely GHB and Ketamine. However, it's important also to understand that these acts of violence are not at all 'dates.' Rapists use the guise of a date or a flirtation at a bar to cover up their true intentions, much the same way con-men devise their cons, or pedophiles lure in children with toys and treats. It's important to understand the true nature of these predators. They are focused on violent assault, not a date.

The term 'Date Rape' also has the potential effect of minimizing the crime and its perceived damage to the victims. Defense attorneys incorrectly refer to date rape as something lesser than other rape (like this one). This can result in reduced sentences and emotional turmoil for victims.

While these crimes are not always preventable, you can take steps to ensure that your drinks are tested for date rape drugs using our date rape detection coasters and kits.
